Greenwood Hunters Hill’s Grand Opening!

On Saturday the 2nd of February, we held our much-anticipated Grand Opening Day at Greenwood Hunters Hill! Read on to find out about how we celebrated the opening of our brand new, purpose built centre. Activities on the day Here at Greenwood Hunters Hill, we were very lucky to have 2018 ARIA award winner (for Best Children’s Album), Justine Clarke join us on the day. She came along for two spectacular shows.  The children also had a chance to meet and take photos with their idol!   Symbio Wildlife came in to teach the children about all the beautiful creatures that they brought along. This included a possum named Clancy, an owl, a crocodile and a large snake to name a few! But the activities didn’t end there. We had face painters as well as Bike & Blend stations to keep the children entertained all day long! Café Hunters Hill also served up a delicious banquet throughout the day to ensure that no one left our centre hungry.   We were also very lucky to have special guests, The Honourable Mr. Anthony Roberts (Member for Lane Cove), Councillor Ben Collins (Deputy Mayor) and Councillor Zac Miles for our official ribbon cutting ceremony. Thank you Mr. Roberts for joining us and saying some wonderful things about our centre!   Learning Environments At Greenwood Hunters Hill, we are passionate about education and giving your child the best start to their early learning journey. From interactive tables to natural outdoor play spaces, there is something for every child. Our Neopost interactive whiteboards encourage collaborative learning between children and educators, allowing us to integrate technology into learning experiences. The children loved exploring every aspect of our beautiful Hunters Hill centre. Our play environments are not only designed to meet the developing needs of every child, but they are also built for all weather conditions. Free tours! Missed out on attending our Grand Opening? Don’t stress! Simply pop into our centre or give us a call on (02) 9168 2904 to book you in for a free tour. One of our friendly educators will be delighted to show you around. We thoroughly appreciate the support we received from the local community at our Grand Opening...

NAIDOC Week 2018 at Greenwood Centres

NAIDOC Week is a week full of celebrations to honour the culture and achievements of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This year, the theme is Because of Her, We Can. It is all about recognising the role that indegenous women have played in the community over the years. At our centres, we believe it is important to celebrate NAIDOC Week in order to appreciate the land on which we live. Read on to see what NAIDOC Week activities we participated in. NAIDOC Week at Greenwood Gladsville In celebration of this year’s NAIDOC week theme, Greenwood Gladesville invited two special women to join the educators and children. They were Beatrice and Ally from ‘Muru Mittigar Pathway To Friends’. For thousands of years, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women have carried knowledge, wisdom, dreamtime stories, songs and history. Ally and Beatrice shared some of those special dream time stories with the children as well as song and dance. The children enjoyed the stories and rich history that was shared with them. This was definitely the highlight of their week!   NAIDOC Week at Greenwood Katoomba Greenwood Katoomba was delighted to have members of the community come in to celebrate the week with them. On Tuesday, Uncle Greame came in to share information about his family and life. He also brought along boomerangs, clapping sticks and other artefacts for the children to explore. In the afternoon, Barbara’s mother Cathy generously volunteered her time to help us paint our canvas for the foyer. Everyone took turns in placing their hand prints in colours. The different colours represented the earth, sun and Aboriginal people. On Thursday, Grant came in to show us his three didgeridoos and how he could make different noises by moving his mouth. We are so thankful for all the people who joined us on NAIDOC Week to provide an enriching learning experience of the owners of our land.    ...
