Centre Manager - Greenwood Penrith

“There is nothing more rewarding than seeing a child learn with passion and wonder.”

I began my career in early childhood education in 2015, and I started at Greenwood Penrith in 2020. I am currently studying for a Master of Teaching Birth-12 years, and I am trained in Child Protection and First Aid. I am also committed to ongoing learning and development and have completed a variety of professional development courses. Since starting my career in early education, my passion for high-quality education and care, as well as a commitment to creating meaningful relationships with children and families, has driven my career.

I knew from a young age that I wanted to work with children. My mum also works in early childhood education and care, and I remember listening to the stories she would tell me about the experiences she had with the children during the day and being inspired to create my own experiences. I love watching the children in our care grow and develop each day as they explore their environment, and there is nothing more rewarding than seeing a child learn with passion and wonder.

During my time in the early childhood education and care sector, the children I have spent time with have helps to shape my teaching and learning philosophy my view of children as confident and capable individuals who are active participants in their learning. I value the importance of play as it is 'the highest form of research" (Albert Einstein) and supper every child's right to play through an inclusive environment. Developing meaningful relationships with children is paramount, and by providing them with a safe and secure environment, we can instil a sense of belonging. This belief is underpinned by Ainsworth and Bowlby's notion of attachment theory. I understand that the children's environment greatly influences their development. Family and community involvement in an early childhood service is essential for providing high-quality education and care. This is driven by beliefs such as 'it takes a village to raise a child' and Vygotsky's sociocultural theory.

I am passionate about supporting children on their learning journey while in our care by providing them with opportunities to extend their interests, skills, and abilities. While also instilling a love of learning and confidence necessary to continue their learning journey as they continue to grow and develop throughout their life.

Throughout the first five years, children develop more rapidly than at any other stage in their lives. Significant developmental milestones occur as children progress from sitting to standing, cooing to conversations, and being largely dependent to independent. Therefore, engaging with peers and educators in an early childhood education environment designed and resourced specifically for young children provides an optimal setting to develop skills, dispositions, and a love for learning.

At Greenwood Penrith, we have a team of dedicated and experienced educators who are passionate about the important role they play in children's learning and the care they provide each day. Every team member takes a great deal of pride in everything they do and has a genuine love for the children. We have two Educational Leaders who support and guide our team in every aspect of teaching and learning to ensure continuous improvement. We also have a fantastic Assistant Centre Manager who is available to provide support to families alongside me. All our staff are trained in child protection and first aid as well as additional professional development courses. We also have a dedicated WHS officer on site who ensure that the safety of the children in our care is our highest priority. All our team members regularly show gratitude and respect for one another, and we have developed a team culture that feels like one big family!

Many of our team members have children of their own, so we understand how hard it can be to decide to put your child into an early learning centre and are dedicated to supporting you each step of the way. This begins when booking your tour. We invite you to have a look through our beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces and ask as many questions as you need. We can also discuss the childcare subsidy process, as it can be quite daunting. Once enrolled, we offer an orientation where your child will be able to play in their room and slowly adapt to their new environment while we ensure that all your paperwork is ready so we can make the first day all about you and your child settling into your new routine. During your time with us, we aim to continue to make it a smooth process, offering ongoing support in a way that suits you and your family's individual needs.
