“I am passionate about creating a warm and nurturing environment for children and making a positive impact on their lives. ”

My career in early childhood education began in 2012, and I joined the team at Greenwood Notting Hill in 2024. I am a fully registered VIT teacher with over a decade of experience in various roles, including Lead Educator, Educational Leader, Assistant Centre Manager, and Centre Manager.

I am passionate about creating a warm and nurturing environment for children and making a positive impact on their lives. Every day, I witness their curiosity, imagination, and eagerness to learn. Each child embarks on a unique journey shaped by their experiences, developmental readiness, and cultural heritage. It is incredibly rewarding to nurture their natural sense of wonder and guide them through the early stages of their educational journey.

My philosophy revolves around recognising the interplay between a child’s inherent qualities and their environment and understanding how these dynamics influence growth and development. Attending an early childhood education centre exposes children to diverse experiences and perspectives. They interact with peers from various backgrounds, cultures, and family structures, promoting tolerance, empathy, and understanding from a young age. These social interactions lay the foundation for essential communication and collaboration skills, which are vital for future success.

I firmly believe it takes a village to raise a child, and I am committed to supporting families as part of that village. Building meaningful relationships with families is a cherished aspect of this profession. At Greenwood Notting Hill, our educators and teachers build trust and rapport with each child and their family. This enhances the learning experience and fosters a sense of community and belonging.

I look forward to welcoming your family to Greenwood Notting Hill early learning centre. Book a tour with us today and we can answer any questions you have.

“Learning should be holistic, integrating intellectual, physical, emotional, and social development to help children grow in every aspect of their lives. “

My philosophy as an Early Childhood Teacher is to create a learning environment that is fun, exciting, and based on children’s interests, while also honoring their cultural and family backgrounds.

I believe that a teacher’s role is not just to instruct but to observe, guide, and support each child’s individual journey. Learning should be holistic, integrating intellectual, physical, emotional, and social development to help children grow in every aspect of their lives. I strive to create a warm and nurturing space where children feel safe to explore, express themselves, and develop essential life skills.

By building strong relationships and tailoring experiences to meet each child’s needs, I aim to foster confidence, independence, and a lifelong love of learning—helping them take small steps toward big futures!

Personalised approach to early learning

At our Notting Hill Kindergarten, our program is designed to provide age-appropriate experiences across our six specialty rooms, ensuring that every child’s developmental needs are supported. Through a combination of play-based and intentional teaching, children are provided with opportunities to explore, discover, and build essential skills in a nurturing environment that respects their individual pace and interests.

We continuously track developmental milestones through collaborative summative assessments and biannual parent-teacher interviews. These insights allow us to design meaningful, individualised learning experiences, supported further by our monthly learning cycles. This reflective and responsive approach ensures that every child experiences continuous growth, development, and a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

Strong local school connections

At our Notting Hill Kindergarten, we prioritise strong partnerships with local primary schools in the Notting Hill area, including Pinewood Primary School, Glen Waverley Primary School, Mount Waverley Primary School, Clayton North Primary School, and Brandon Park Primary School.

We prepare children for a smooth transition to school through:

  • School visits: Through transition visits and classroom experiences, children meet their future teachers, explore new environments, and build familiarity.
  • Kindergarten information evenings: We invite school teachers to share their insights on ‘school readiness,’ offering families valuable guidance on how to best prepare their child for the move to primary school.
  • School transition statements: Our Early Childhood Teachers prepare detailed Transition Statements for each child, outlining their strengths, interests, and learning progress. These statements are shared with families and schools to support a seamless transition into school.

Frequently asked questions

In Australia, sessional kindergartens or preschools are usually operated by local government, religious organisations, schools, private organisations or the community. They usually run during school term and school hours, meaning the program runs for 40 weeks per year, with most sessions finishing up around 2 pm, over 2-3 days per week.

The kindergarten or preschool program is also offered in long day care centres. Most long day care centres are open from 7:00 AM. to 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday with flexible drop-off/pick-up times to better accommodate busy working families. Long day care centres run 52 weeks per year, meaning your child would not miss out on valuable learning opportunities during school holidays.

Nutritional meals and snacks are covered in long day care centres, so you don’t have to worry about packing lunches.

Child Care Subsidy still applies when your child attends the kindergarten or preschool programs offered in long day care services. Depending on your state or territory, different funding options can be combined with your Child Care Subsidy savings, making kindergarten or preschool more affordable for your family.

Essentially, there is no difference between the curriculums adopted by long day care and sessional kindergarten or preschool providers. They are both run by qualified early childhood teachers, and they all align with Early Years Learning Framework, focusing on supporting individual children’s development, interests and needs through play-based and intentional learning experiences.

If your child is already settled at a long day care centre, they have the opportunity to stay in a familiar environment, transitioning together with their friends.
