Childcare and preschool in Chatswood, NSW

Greenwood Chatswood East offers long day care and a preschool program for children aged 6 weeks to school age, conveniently located for families in Chatswood, Chatswood East, Willoughby, Castle Cove, Middle Cove, Roseville and Northbridge.

Bike track, rooftop garden and outdoor play

The outdoor environment gives children plenty of variety, with a bike track, climbing fort, cubby house, worm farm, sandpits, water play area and rooftop garden. Children can ride, climb, dig, garden, care for living things and spend time outdoors in different ways.

STEM, whiteboards and natural materials

Purpose-built indoor spaces include interactive whiteboards, natural materials and resources that encourage children to investigate, create and solve problems. A STEM curriculum gives children regular opportunities to test ideas, ask questions and explore how things work.

Long-standing educators and teachers

Many of our educators and teachers have been with the centre since it opened. These long-term relationships give children familiar faces each day and help families build trust with the people who know their child’s routines, interests and personality.

Government-approved Preschool program

Our Government-approved Preschool program is delivered by Bachelor-qualified Early Childhood Teachers across both Junior and Senior Preschool rooms. Children build school-ready skills through play, group learning, routines, friendships and experiences designed for their stage of development.

Individual Learning Plans for every child

Each child’s Individual Learning Plan is shaped by their interests, strengths, learning style and developmental goals. Families and educators review the plan over time, so it stays useful as children grow, try new skills and become curious about new things.

Multi-sports, yoga, culture and music

Children take part in extra learning experiences as part of the daily program, including multi-sports, yoga, cultural programs, music and movement. Excursions and centre-based events also bring new people, places and shared experiences into the program.

Fresh, nutritious meals prepared daily

Our in-house chef prepares breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and a late snack each day. Seasonal menus are low in added sugar and salt, include plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, and minimise refined products. Allergies and dietary requirements are carefully catered for, with homemade purees prepared for younger children and children transitioning to solids.

Stay connected with your child’s learning

Families stay connected through educator conversations and updates shared in our family communication app. Photos and updates throughout the day help families see what their child is learning, enjoying and experiencing at the centre.

"I am passionate about creating meaningful experiences that nurture children’s confidence, curiosity, and sense of belonging, while partnering with families to help every child reach their full potential."

I have been working in early childhood education since 2015 and joined Greenwood Chatswood in 2026, after many years at our sister centre Kinder Haven Maroubra. I was inspired to pursue early childhood education because I believe the early years are some of the most important in a child’s life. Knowing that the relationships, experiences, and learning opportunities we provide can have a lifelong impact is incredibly meaningful. What I love most is the relationships, watching children grow in confidence, achieve milestones, and excitedly share new discoveries.

Throughout my career, I have learned that children learn best through meaningful relationships and social interactions. Inspired by Lev Vygotsky’s belief that children thrive with the guidance of caring adults, my approach focuses on building on what children already know and gently extending their learning through encouragement, conversation, and play.

Every child deserves to feel safe, seen, and inspired to learn. I am passionate about creating meaningful experiences that nurture children’s confidence, curiosity, and sense of belonging, while partnering with families to help every child reach their full potential.

When speaking with families, I explain that every moment is a learning opportunity. Early learning centres provide carefully planned experiences that support children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development, while building confidence, independence, friendships, communication skills, and a lifelong love of learning.

I am incredibly proud of our diverse team of passionate and dedicated educators. We bring a range of cultural backgrounds, experiences, and strengths to our centre, creating a warm and inclusive environment where every child and family feels welcomed, respected, and celebrated.

Building strong partnerships with families is the foundation of a child’s success. I make myself approachable, take the time to listen, communicate openly, and celebrate each child’s achievements with their family. By building trust and working together, we create a consistent and supportive environment where children can thrive.

Our innovative early learning programs

At our early learning centre in Chatswood East, our play-based curriculum is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), supporting children to learn through play, exploration and discovery.

Sustainability

Sustainability is a key focus for our centre. Our gardens across Levels 1, 2 and 3 provide children with hands-on opportunities to care for plants, explore nature and learn about the environment. We actively promote natural and sustainable practices including our Return and Earn program, where children and families work together to return recyclable bottles and cans to support local community causes.

Community engagement

Our preschool children venture out to explore our local community, including our local primary school, parks, bunnings, cafes, and Woolworths. We also invite community guests to the centre, including swimming teachers for water safety, eye screening, emergency services, and dentists.

Music and movement

Our evidence-based Rhythm and Movement for Self-Regulation (RAMSR) program supports children’s attentional and emotional self-regulation, as well as skills like flexibility, inhibition and working memory. Drawing on research in music education and child development, it is an innovative approach to holistic learning, development and well-being in early childhood.

Exploration and problem solving

Educators introduce open-ended materials and invitations to explore, such as building, measuring and experimenting. Through shared conversations and investigation, children develop curiosity, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

Inclusive support for each child

We support each child’s learning journey through Individual Learning Plans, tailored to their interests and developmental needs. Educators conduct monthly observations and share mid-year and end-of-year progress reports with families. Parent-teacher interviews are held regularly to maintain open communication. Our program balances individual and group learning, using ongoing observation and planning to ensure every child is supported, engaged, and appropriately challenged.

For children with additional needs or those learning English as an additional language, we provide inclusive, individualised support. This includes personalised plans developed in collaboration with families and allied health professionals, along with visual aids, gestures, and key word signing. Where possible, bilingual staff assist with language development and cultural inclusion, and we support families in applying for additional funding when needed.

Frequently asked questions

A centre tour is a convenient way to experience the childcare centre of your choice and meet with our qualified educators at a time that is suitable for your family’s schedule. Click here to book a tour online.

On the day of the tour, you can observe practices and interactions within the centre environment. You’ll be able to see all the rooms and playgrounds, ask the team members any questions you have in mind, and get all the information you need to make the best decision for your child.

Enrolling is simple, and our Family Support Team will guide you through each step.

First, find your local centre and book a tour so you can meet the team and explore the learning environment. If the centre is the right fit and a place is available, you’ll receive an enrolment offer for your child. If a place is not currently available in your child’s age group, we can add your child to the waitlist and keep you updated.

To finalise your enrolment, you’ll complete an online enrolment form through a secure link sent by our Family Support Team. You’ll also need to provide key details and documents, including your child’s birth certificate, Medicare details, immunisation history statement and, if eligible, your Child Care Subsidy details.

Before your child’s first day, you may be invited to attend a Stay and Play session. This gives your child time to explore the centre, meet their educators, and start feeling comfortable in their new environment. Once your paperwork is complete, your child is ready to start their early learning journey with us.

Read our step-by-step guide on how to enrol here.

Starting child care is a big milestone, and a little preparation can help your child feel more comfortable and confident.

Before your child’s first day, you can talk positively about their new centre, explain what their day might look like, and practise small routines such as packing their bag, saying goodbye, washing hands and sitting down for meals. You may also like to visit the centre with your child, meet their educators and ask our team about what to bring on the first day.

When your child starts, our educators will take the time to get to know your child’s routine, interests, comfort items and individual needs. Settling in looks different for every child, so we work closely with families to help children feel safe, supported and ready to learn.

Learn more about our Settling-in Program.

Most of our child care and early education centres offer nappies and wipes, sunscreen and hats, as well as nutritious meals prepared by our in-house cook. Some centres also provide sheets and formula, so you may not need to remember to pack them.

For nursery children, be sure to bring: nappy rash cream, dummies, bottles and teats, comfort toys or blankets, three spare outfits and spare socks.

For toddlers and preschool or kindergarten-aged children, it’s best to bring: spare underwear, water bottle or sippy cup, sun hat, closed-toe shoes, two spare outfits and spare socks.

Plus, anything else your individual child may need, such as breast milk, a sleeping bag, a comforter or medication.

It’s best to speak to your centre of choice for a full list of everything included.

Greenwood uses Xplor Home as our family communication app. It is the best and easiest way to keep track of your child’s day.

After you enrol your child with the centre, you can utilise Xplor Home to book child care days, manage your account, receive the photographs that capture your child’s learning, learn about your child’s progress, as well as keep up-to-date with upcoming centre events and important information.

If your child shows signs of an infectious illness when they arrive at the centre or becomes sick during the day, you may be notified that you need to make alternative arrangements or pick up your child from the centre and keep them home until they are no longer infectious. While we understand that this can be inconvenient, Greenwood is committed to maintaining a healthy environment and reducing the risk of infection for all children.

Under the Child Care Subsidy (CCS), families are allowed 42 absence days per child, per financial year. These can be taken for any reason, including public holidays and when children are sick, without requiring families to provide documentation.
