Actively encouraging children to extend upon their life skills supports their increasing independence and develops their dispositions towards citizenship. By building relationships with others and engaging in collaborative learning experiences, children are afforded with vast opportunities to develop their interests and ideas through play. Equally as important, children have the chance to rest and recuperate as required to meet their individual needs.
Enriching your child’s learning
The My Time, Our Place Framework for School Age Care in Australia aims to extend and enrich children’s wellbeing and development in school-age care settings. Linked closely to the Early Years Learning Framework, My Time, Our Place extends upon the principles, practices and outcomes to ensure children are engaging in quality experiences for rich learning opportunities. A focus on leisure and enjoyment is prioritised so children establish positive, meaningful relationships and a sense of belonging.
My time, our place places school-aged children’s learning at the heart and encompasses three interconnected elements of principles, practices and outcomes to guide pedagogy and curriculum decision making. The five learning outcomes acknowledge variations in development and context as well as the complex, integrated nature of learning as children progress towards the outcomes in their own meaningful ways:
- Children have a strong sense of identity
- Children are connected with and contribute to their world
- Children have a strong sense of wellbeing
- Children are confident and involved learners
- Children are effective communicators
School-aged children engage with increasingly complex ideas and these are transferable to other learning.
Children’s wellbeing, development and enrichment are achieved in different and equally meaningful ways through with engagement with their peers within an environment catering for school-aged children’s interests.
With the guidance, support and care of our experienced team, our approach to school-aged education and care will provide children with an holistic experience abundant in diverse opportunities for meaningful play and learning.

“Having been unsure when we changed our daughter to Greenwood our reservations were quickly non existent. Still to date the best Centre I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. Since moving out of area 18mths ago my daughter still misses the staff and friends she made. I’m so grateful she will forever have such fond memories of Greenwood Katoomba.”
“Our son has been at greenwood for 5 months and absolutely loves it!! He wakes up wanting to go to daycare. The Centre facilities are fantastic, the director is lovely and the onsite chef caters to my sons anaphylactic allergy so we don’t need to stress. We love the activities - yoga and French. My son has bonded well with the carers and we feel like it’s a very friendly and caring atmosphere. We would highly recommend it!!!!”
