Play is essential to every child's learning and development. It enables children to make decisions, learn, take risks, and have fun. At our Burwood East child care centre, our experienced team of educators and teachers plan play-based learning activities in line with national early childhood education standards. The Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) is designed to engage in your child’s interests and allow them to experience each day in a new way, supporting their learning in the lead-up to primary school.
Our Early Learning Curriculum also provides children with:
- Real Life experiences: Children participate in fun and exciting experiences such as woodworking, harvesting the veggie garden and basic cooking skills.
- Sustainability program: Each age group in our child care centre participates in a sustainability project that help children embed sustainable practices into everyday life. Children learn about recycling, conserving water, growing food and the importance of looking after and protecting our planet.
- Community engagement activities: We often have visits from local librarians, police and other community services in Burwood East to help familiarise the children with their local community. We also have excursions to our local park Burwood East line reserve park, East Burwood Reserve and local primary school Burwood East primary school & Holy Saviour primary school to assist our Kindergarten children with their transition to ‘big school’.
- Sports Program: Our future champs program allows the children to be active and learn about different sports and movements. This program is held once a week on a Tuesday.
- Science Program: Our centre also offers a science program which allows the children to participate in various experiments. This is held once a week on a Wednesday.
Our Burwood East early learning centre provides children with nutrient-rich, fresh and seasonal foods created to please even the fussiest of eaters. For variety, our menu rotates every four weeks and changes every season, with our chef catering to the unique dietary requirements of every child.
Here at our Burwood East child care centre, we believe that by encouraging active participation in food preparation (such as growing & harvesting the fruit and vegetables, preparing, and helping cook the meal) - children learn to appreciate and understand the importance of healthy eating.

Greenwood is the first centre I toured, and I am really happy with the clean environment, great facilities and nice educators. The room is always nicely layout everyday. My daughter attends 3 days a week and she's looked after well. I would highly and strongly recommend the Greenwood!
