  • Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood)
“I always reflect on the importance of providing a safe and calming environment for children and families.”

I began my career in early childhood education in 2010 and joined Greenwood Rowville in 2021. I have held various roles including Room Leader, Early Childhood Teacher, Assistant Manager, and Centre Manager.

In my career, I always reflect on the importance of providing a safe and calming environment for children and families. As Centre Manager, I support families through their early childhood journey and share my knowledge with educators to ensure high-quality care and education. I believe in each child’s individuality and approach every situation with compassion and care. Building relationships with each child and their family is crucial for a positive experience and smooth transition into our service.

Our team, many of whom have been with us since the centre opened in 2018, is passionate about providing a nurturing environment. We understand the importance of your children and take our responsibilities seriously, supported by extensive policies and procedures. As parents ourselves, we empathise with the challenges families face and are here to help every step of the way.

To make families feel at home, we offer coffee and tea in our foyer and celebrate events as a community. Our all-in-one family app keeps you updated on your child’s day and provides access to health information, payments, bookings, and more. We know the enrolment process can be confusing, so we provide step-by-step guidance via email and offer assistance during orientation.

The team at Greenwood Rowville early learning centre looks forward to welcoming your family!

Our innovative early learning programs

At our early learning centre in Rowville, our play-based curriculum is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), supporting children to learn through play, exploration and discovery.

Sustainability

Children develop respect for the environment through gardening, recycling and nature-based learning. Educators also introduce the interconnected aspects of sustainability, including environmental, social and economic, through concepts like fairness, sharing and community.

Creative arts

Children express ideas and make meaning using a range of creative experiences, including painting, drawing, drama, dance, storytelling, music and craft activities. These experiences encourage imagination, self-expression and confidence while supporting fine motor development.

Music and movement

Our evidence-based Rhythm and Movement for Self-Regulation (RAMSR) program is designed to develop fundamental skills that help support children’s self-regulation, memory, and concentration. It is an innovative approach to holistic learning, development and well-being in early childhood.

Social and emotional learning

Children develop a strong sense of identity as they feel safe, secure and supported, building confidence, resilience and a positive sense of self. Through group activities, conversations and play, children learn to interact with others with care, empathy and respect, building positive relationships and friendships

Individual support for every child

Every child has an individual learning plan guided by their interests, strengths and goals. Educators plan and adjust teaching strategies throughout the month, documenting learning and reflections, which families can access at any time.

We support children with additional needs or those learning English as an additional language by working in partnership with families, therapists and support agencies. This includes using inclusion support funding to increase educator support, following specialist advice, and using visual supports, key words and home languages to help children feel confident, understood and included from day one.

Director Leah and Assistant Director Kira-Lee run an exceptional service and are always approachable and supportive whenever I have had any questions or assistance. The Greenwood team has played a huge role in my daughter’s development and confidence. Every staff member has contributed to shaping my daughter into the little person she is becoming, and I am truly grateful for all of the love, care, support, guidance, and learning they have provided. We would absolutely still be at Greenwood Rowville if we did not have to relocate, and we will always be thankful for the beautiful start they gave our daughter.

I wasn’t going to share this but given someone else has brought it up I thought it best to tell my story. My child attended Nursery 1 on Tuesdays and occasionally on Thursdays. My child attended Nursery 1 on Tuesdays and occasionally on Thursdays. We left the centre not because of the staff (Tegan, Alexis, Kristy, Shawnee, and Vani were outstanding!!) but because of Kiralee, whose behaviour made the environment unsafe, stressful, and unprofessional. On one Tuesday morning, staff were under pressure, working hard to settle both new and existing children, while Kiralee sat in the office and ignored their need for support. She then entered the room with an angry expression, demanding to know what was happening. The younger staff were visibly puzzled and stressed, and you could see the drain on their faces. The atmosphere shifted as soon as Kiralee appeared. Kiralee consistently focused almost entirely on her own child, often carrying him on her hip, and allowed him to physically hurt other children, including my child, with a metal water bottle. When he bit a staff member, she explicitly instructed staff not to say “no” to him, which encouraged harmful and unsafe behaviour. Her communication with staff was consistently rude, belittling, and dismissive, creating a toxic environment for everyone. I overheard another parent ask a staff member, “Is she always like this?” and “What is Leah doing about this?” The staff member smiled awkwardly, but you could see the stress on her face. Other staff shrugged, clearly frustrated. Kiralee treats staff extremely poorly. I also heard her ask a parent if their child had been “medicated” that morning and make them leave the service after they had given Nurofen for teething. Her son eventually left the centre due to needing more one-on-one care, highlighting the impact of her behaviour on the service. Management must take action to ensure staff are supported and all children are treated safely and fairly. I would not consider this service while Kiralee remains, and I know the centre has an open day coming up. Parents and staff alike deserve a safe, respectful, and professional environment, and this behaviour cannot continue if the centre hopes to maintain trust and care for all children.

He attends three days a week and has gone from nursery one into nursery two. Every time we pick him up he is happy. He’s having a great time. The staff are always cheery. They’ve been working long hours with many children all day and yet they have always got a smile on their face, a warm greeting and They’re laughing and having fun. They’re sharing the stories that the children have done during the day and it’s just such a relaxed atmosphere. You can see the genuine love and care they have for each child. We can see that he is learning so many things. He comes home with all these new skills and language and we love the learning plans and the contributions that the parents have, the daily updates and the little videos and photos. They just make us feel like our son is as special to you all as he is to us. We have worked in the industry where we have frequented hundreds of childcare centres over the last 17 years and we have to say that the feeling of care, family and community that we get when we walk into Greenwood Rowville is exceptional compared to many other centres that we have walked into and interacted with. We thank you. We thank the staff that look after him and commend you all on creating an environment that is fun, creative, loving, relaxed and safe for our child.

Frequently asked questions

A centre tour is a convenient way to experience the childcare centre of your choice and meet with our qualified educators at a time that is suitable for your family’s schedule. Click here to book a tour online.

On the day of the tour, you can observe practices and interactions within the centre environment. You’ll be able to see all the rooms and playgrounds, ask the team members any questions you have in mind, and get all the information you need to make the best decision for your child.

Enrolling is simple, and our Family Support Team will guide you through each step.

First, find your local centre and book a tour so you can meet the team and explore the learning environment. If the centre is the right fit and a place is available, you’ll receive an enrolment offer for your child. If a place is not currently available in your child’s age group, we can add your child to the waitlist and keep you updated.

To finalise your enrolment, you’ll complete an online enrolment form through a secure link sent by our Family Support Team. You’ll also need to provide key details and documents, including your child’s birth certificate, Medicare details, immunisation history statement and, if eligible, your Child Care Subsidy details.

Before your child’s first day, you may be invited to attend a Stay and Play session. This gives your child time to explore the centre, meet their educators, and start feeling comfortable in their new environment. Once your paperwork is complete, your child is ready to start their early learning journey with us.

Read our step-by-step guide on how to enrol here.

Starting child care is a big milestone, and a little preparation can help your child feel more comfortable and confident.

Before your child’s first day, you can talk positively about their new centre, explain what their day might look like, and practise small routines such as packing their bag, saying goodbye, washing hands and sitting down for meals. You may also like to visit the centre with your child, meet their educators and ask our team about what to bring on the first day.

When your child starts, our educators will take the time to get to know your child’s routine, interests, comfort items and individual needs. Settling in looks different for every child, so we work closely with families to help children feel safe, supported and ready to learn.

Learn more about our Settling-in Program.

Most of our child care and early education centres offer nappies and wipes, sunscreen and hats, as well as nutritious meals prepared by our in-house cook. Some centres also provide sheets and formula, so you may not need to remember to pack them.

For nursery children, be sure to bring: nappy rash cream, dummies, bottles and teats, comfort toys or blankets, three spare outfits and spare socks.

For toddlers and preschool or kindergarten-aged children, it’s best to bring: spare underwear, water bottle or sippy cup, sun hat, closed-toe shoes, two spare outfits and spare socks.

Plus, anything else your individual child may need, such as breast milk, a sleeping bag, a comforter or medication.

It’s best to speak to your centre of choice for a full list of everything included.

Greenwood uses Xplor Home as our family communication app. It is the best and easiest way to keep track of your child’s day.

After you enrol your child with the centre, you can utilise Xplor Home to book child care days, manage your account, receive the photographs that capture your child’s learning, learn about your child’s progress, as well as keep up-to-date with upcoming centre events and important information.

If your child shows signs of an infectious illness when they arrive at the centre or becomes sick during the day, you may be notified that you need to make alternative arrangements or pick up your child from the centre and keep them home until they are no longer infectious. While we understand that this can be inconvenient, Greenwood is committed to maintaining a healthy environment and reducing the risk of infection for all children.

Under the Child Care Subsidy (CCS), families are allowed 42 absence days per child, per financial year. These can be taken for any reason, including public holidays and when children are sick, without requiring families to provide documentation.
